What is a fake tweet generator?
A fake tweet generator is a tool that makes an image of a post that looks like it's from X (Twitter), with any text, name, photo and numbers you choose. Designers, marketers and teachers use these tweet mockups in slides, ad drafts, app demos and lessons, where a real post doesn't exist yet.
This one draws the mockup in your browser. Nothing you type or upload is sent to us.
What people use tweet mockups for
Most tweet mockups show an idea before it's real: a launch post being planned, an ad being tested, or a feature in a product demo. The mockup lets a team judge how the words look in the feed, at the right size, before anything is posted.
| Use | Good practice |
|---|---|
| Pitch decks and slides | Use your own account or a clearly made-up one |
| Ad and social drafts | Show the draft to your team before it goes live |
| App and design demos | Use placeholder names like Maya Chen |
| Teaching | Say on the slide that it's a mockup |
Where the line is
Mockups are for slides, ads and demos, not for passing off as real posts. Putting made-up words in a real person's mouth can hurt them, and it can be defamation. X also removes posts that pretend to be someone else. If people could mistake your mockup for a real post, label it.
To share a post that's really on X, use the tweet screenshot tool, which loads it from its link. To turn your own words into a card, try the tweet card builder.
